„Recomposing the smallest particle of wood allows us to rethink the design process with this common material“

This project is about the development of a freely mouldable wood material which, unlike the usual wood composite material, consists exclusively of components of the tree that are by-products of its industrial use. These components are sawdust, wood chips and lignin, which is dissolved out of the wood during the paper production.

Using lignin as a binder, a biological plastic material is created that can be 3D printed or compression molded into any shape. By adding natural rubber the properties of the material can be augmented, making the wood more flexible.
