Esther Kaya Stögerer

Esther Kaya Stögerer is a designer working in the field of sustainable design. Her research focuses on the development of ecologically sound products and materials. In her projects she deals with socio-ecological and social aspects of design.

She is a research associate at weißensee school of art and design berlin in the project LignoLight, which is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection. In the project she is working on the development of sustainable materials and products based on lignin, a waste stream from the paper industry. The focus of the project, in addition to the developing material applications of a resource of which currently almost 100% is burned, is the early integration of lightweight construction principles for the production of materials and products that require fewer resources in their production and processing as well as in their transport, thus saving CO2.

In 2022, she completed her master’s degree in textile and surface design with a focus on experimental materials research at weißensee school of art and design berlin. In addition to her research work at the university, she is co-founder of the design studio Circology in Berlin.
